Christians and Money
Money, money, money!!!!!!!! It’s something we all want more of (if we’re honest); but in reality it’s something that most of us don’t know how to handle……….. I say that, because money is supposed to be a tool in our hands —something used to bring increase. We’re supposed to tell it what to do – using it for God’s glory (Read about the parable of the talents in Matthews Ch. 25 and Luke Ch.19)
To do the above, we as Christians must first recognize that it’s not ours, but know that it belongs to God (Exodus 9:29, Psalm 24:1). We are not the owners, but the managers. And believe it or not, God provided us with manual re: the use of money ……Oh, yes He did. In the manual (the Bible), there are thousands of scriptures that deal with money and well of course, not all of the references to money will make us run, shout and do a holy dance, because many of them require application. They require us to be hearers and doers of the word.
Let’s all remain in a learning (receptive) mode regarding what God says about money. For we recognize that money is not the end all, but we do know the word says that if we can’t handle the unrighteous mammon, how will God entrust us with true riches. (Luke 16:11) God will only entrust in our hands what He knows we can handle (not what we think we can handle).
And where Gods sees faithfulness, He rewards it. For, He says that if we are faithful over a little, He will reward us with much. However, the opposite is that if we are careless (faithless), He will take what was given to us and give it to someone who is faithful.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2
